To be eligible for JRF and assistant professor post, candidates must hold a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks (with a relaxation to 50% for OBC / SC / ST / PwD candidates). In terms of age, candidates applying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must not exceed 30 years of age as of June 1, 2023 ( Age relaxation of 5 years granted for reserved category candidates) and there was no upper age limit for those aspirants who are applying for assistant professor post. UGC NET 2023 Selection Process
According to the UGC NET notification 2023 the exam consists of two papers and both papers are conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. The UGC NET Paper 1 is a general paper designed to test the candidate’s teaching and research aptitude while Paper 2 tests their knowledge in a specific subject. Candidates who successfully qualify and both UGC NET papers are eligible for the Assistant Professor Position and Junior Research Fellowship.
